iphone was born on a friday afternoon at 6pm. on saturday i had my own. when i purchased the phone it had firmware 1.1.1 today i have 1.1.4. with each upgrad i enjoyed added features like extended battery life, multiple recipient text messages, itunes music store access (over wifi), the ability to move icons around, place safari bookmarks on the jump screen, etc.
if you ask me, in the past year apple's upgrades have been not only sub par but downright boring.
so i took the excitement into my own hands, (with the help of ZiPhone) and did a jailbreak! creating a jailbreak is fast and easy, and has no risk. what does jailbreaking an iphone really mean? great question: jailbreaking your iphone involves installing one application called "installer". from the installer app, you will be able to browse, download, and install applications.
i've installed a fair share of apps, and have found a few that i like.
1.) Twinkle
with this app i can post to my twitter account from wherever whenever. i can even attach a photo! i can see who else is twinkling within a 1, 2, 5, 10, 50 mile radius. and can read those that i'm following. what a way to keep in touch! the interface rocks too.
2.) Feeds
RSS reader on the go! i can delete all the icons i have on my springboard for individual blogs, with one button (sync) i can see who posted and read the posts. i love it.
3.) Mobile Scrobbler
radio on my phone, last.fm raido. i can scrobble everything i listen to, play suggested tracks over wifi or edge, and get artist info/lyrics/event info. kinda slow over edge.
4.) Fring pre-release 0.978
aim, skype, gchat, sip, icq, etc etc... this is the best im client for the iphone in my opinion. it doesn't disconnect the second you sleep the phone or jump to another application real fast. apparently you use this app for voice chat or skype out calls, haven't tried.
